Social Communication

SOCIAL and pragmatic COMMUNICATION THERAPY SERVICES

Social language difficulties include challenges with play skills, conversations, storytelling, and problem solving. We will work with you and your child in individual or group therapy sessions to develop social cognition and related social skills.  We will also work with you to develop ideas to target these skills at home or at school. We are available for occasional home or school consultations to help extend these skills into everyday social settings with siblings and peers.

For many autistic children, social and pragmatic communication can be an area of challenge. We utilize a neurodiversity affirming social curriculum to support social skills such as perspective taking, problem solving and self advocacy. This evidence based curriculum includes supports such as story based intervention, social skills, visual supports, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), music mediated intervention and technology aided interventions.
